Richard Parry, M.D., is the author of seven other books, six novels and a work of narrative non-fiction about the doomed voyage of the 1871 Polaris Arctic Expedition. A physician, he spent twenty years of his life with his wife Cathy raising their family in a log cabin outside Fairbanks, Alaska. Parry has hiked and camped extensively in the regions described in this work, and he has a unique insight into the animals and terrain of these extraordinary and extreme regions of the United States. Richard and Cathy now reside in Arizona.
